A new Editorial Vision for the Historical Archive of Poblenou's Magazine

The Arxiu Històric del Poblenou (Historical Archive of Poblenou) has commissioned us to redesign its magazine, Icària, after making a series of decisions regarding its publication that lead to a total restyling. All of this is done with the intention of continuing to grow this collection and, at the same time, providing a more documentary character for each of the themes addressed in the publications.
With a creative approach grounded in documentation and the preservation of different contents, a new editorial direction is created that allows to present the sections in a more dynamic way in order to convey a more journalistic, testimonial, and research-oriented intention.
In this regard, completely avoiding the use of color, the publication is visually enriched by the arrangement of images with expanded captions, where the content takes on greater importance and allows for detailed explanations of each of the stories or anecdotes associated with the different images or illustrations.
Simultaneously, the redesign of the cover aims to resemble more of an editorial cultural publication than a typical magazine, which allows us to play with the back cover as well.
This way, connections are established between elements of both the front and back covers to create a visual result closer to that of a poster.

All of this, along with the details in silver ink to achieve differentiation of a more playful content, creates a new editorial experience for Icària that connects with new audiences and generates a collection adapted to their current needs.
